The newly appointed Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Asiamah has brought about a firm commitment to addressing the country’s ongoing economic challenges, specifically continuous inflation, as part of the central bank’s core mandate.
During his first official meeting with Deputy Governors Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari and Elsie Addo Awadzie, Dr. Asiamah acknowledged the need for key policy adjustments to respond to the major economic pressures that have weighed heavily on growth.
Meanwhile, specifics on the measures were not revealed. The Governor assured that these measures would be communicated at the appropriate time. With inflationary trends continuing to put a strain on the economy, Dr. Asiamah emphasized that the central bank is carefully assessing the need for strategic modifications to its policies.
However, he made clear that his leadership transition would not disrupt the bank’s operational continuity or its strategic direction. “We are focused on our mandate, and that remains unchanged. While there will be minor adjustments in response to the current economic problems, we will communicate those at the right time,” Dr. Asiamah said.
