Finance Minister launches new Ghana Revenue Authority Board to drive revenue reform
Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, has inaugurated the recent constituted Board of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). He referred to the occasion as “a defining moment” in the country’s strategic revenue management.
The ceremony, which took place on the April 30, paved the way for what government officials hope will be a new chapter in accountability, innovation, and enhanced domestic revenue generation.
The Board, guided by Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, consist of individuals with demonstrated expertise across finance, governance, and public administration.
He noted that, Dr Forson expressed assurance in the ability the board to lead transformative reforms within the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and to make sure that revenue collection processes becomes more increased in effectiveness and openness.
He encouraged the members to stay focused, collaborative, and dedicated to serving the public. Dr Ato Forson said that “The challenges ahead are not unbeatable,”
He added that “With a Board of this calibre, I am confident that Ghana can achieve a more robust and sustainable revenue system that supports our development agenda.”
He stressed that building up GRA’s institutional capacity and updating its system will be a significant pillars of this transformation effort.
Chairman Ricketts-Hagan, In his formal acceptance speech, he showed appreciation to the Minister for the trust placed in the Board and promise to deliver on its mandate with integrity and diligence.
He drew to attention the importance of public trust in the GRA’s work and called for teamwork among stakeholders to expand tax net and promote a culture of complying without enforcement.
