News coming in and sighted by newsghana24.com is that goverment will in September 2019 post qualified teachers to occupy 28,560 teaching vacancies which have been declared open for posting. This according to our sources was disclosed by the minister of Education Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh in an exclusive interview on DSTV channel 178.
According to the Hon. Minister, there are ongoing efforts to identify all vacant positions which might increase the current opened vacancies.
However, most of the vacancies available are in the Northern part of the country, thus more teachers will be posted there to ensure the needed manpower human resources to man the schools and classrooms for effective teaching and learning come September is achieve. The Volta region will also receive a huge share of teachers.
He stressed that, not all the over 16,000 teachers who sat for the licensure exams passed hence, only teachers who passed will be posted. Per figured churned out, only 14,556 teachers are ready to be posted across nationwide.
He said sorting for postings for trained teachers commenced on the last day of July and letters for teachers who have been posted will be made available at all district education offices early September 2019.
Teachers who performed poorly in the licensure exams and will not be posted will be offered a golden opportunity to resit the licensure exams until they pass then they shall be issued with the license certificate. Until then, they will not be allowed to teach.
Teachers and all stakeholders of education are to note that, the license exams has come to stay and all students going through training and education to become professional teachers will go through the same procedures.
The next batch of teachers will be posted in January 2020 to commence their national service which is now mandatory. All teachers waiting to be posted should look forward to the letters to that effect come September 2019.
