I was telling a contact of mine at the US Embassy a few days ago that, former President Mahama seems to have conducted himself very well as an opposition leader.
I am too young and only a few decades old to have known how opposition leaders in our history like JB Danquah, Prof Adu Boahen and others conducted themselves, but John Mahama seems to be setting a model of national goodwill and handing out of the olive branch at a time of crisis like the one Ghana is living now.
Considerable donations against COVID-19 in the South and other donations against Meningitis in the North are a good example for young budding politicians nationwide to learn even while in opposition.

In his latest tweets, Former President Mahama said “We must all act to protect ourselves and help #StopTheSpread of #COVID19. It is not what someone else does, but what we all do. Please stay home. Reconsider that decision to go out, and ask that person coming to you, to discuss the matter on phone or via a video call.”
Together, we can break the chain of infections. Let’s also continue the routine of constantly washing your hands with soap and under running water, especially after you hold or come into contact with any commonly used surface. We can, together, win this fight against #COVID19.
