Fire burns Mayor of Accra’s V8 to ashes
Fire has engulfed the Mayor of Accra’s V8. The vehicle is the official car of the mayor of the city of Accra. The Land Cruiser V8 which was used by, Hon Mohammed Adjei Sowah, the Mayor of Accra was gutted by a raging fire and burnt it into ashes while it was parked at his residence in Ridge here in Accra on Saturday 4th May 2019. The cause of the fire at the time the incident occurred could not be ascertained. Nothing was salvaged from the car.
Residents in the house and neighbourhood who tried to put the fire out did not succeed until the Ghana Fire Service arrived. The Ghana National Fire Service was called in to put the fire out but their effort yielded nothing since the car was already burnt and nothing could be salvaged from it.
According to an eye witness in a video, he felt something was burning in the house, he alerted the security man, the security man asked him to go and check from the room. He found nothing to suggest there was fire, however later, they got to know it was the car.
Recent fire outbreaks in the country call for urgent measures to. In just a week fire has destroyed property and while some have lost their lives in the recent fire that led to the death of three persons including a police officer.
In a video of the incident, one could see how helpless it was attempting to put a raging fire out. Fire officer numbering about 6 and many other concerned residences in the area who came to the scene to lend helping hand could not put the fire under control until it destroyed the car.
According to the autoblog.com, a V8 cost $84,565, Ghana must cough this cash to replace the official vehicle for the mayor to ensure he is able to transport himself around to perform his official duties.
The Land Cruiser V8 which a Toyota brand of car is a Supreme car powered by a powered a big V8, built on a truck foundation and has a separate body. V8 is a luxurious car which has become the preferred brand of car for government officials.
The Mayor is a Social Entrepreneur who has served the local government for more than 23 years. He was appointed the Mayor by his excellence the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo.
