GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Executive Certificate Programmes
Applicants should possess a Minimum of University Diploma in relevant discipline. Applicants may go through a selection interview.
Doctor of Engineering Programmes (D. Eng.)
Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in relevant discipline plus a minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience in the relevant field.
Postgraduate Diploma Programme (PgD)
Applicants must have a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant Physical Science or Engineering related discipline from a recognised University.
Masters Programmes
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent from a recognised Institution in the relevant field of study. Preference will be given to applicants with FIRST CLASS OR SECOND CLASS (UPPER DIVISION).
PhD Programmes
Applicants should possess an MPhil degree or its equivalent from a recognised Institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training, ability to pay and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
PROGRAMME DURATION
Unless otherwise stated, the duration for Executive Certificate Programmes is Six (6) to Twelve (12) months, Doctor of Engineering Programmes is (Full-Time) Four (4) years and Part-Time is Six (6) years, PgD Programme (Full Time) is One (1) Academic Year and Part-Time is Two (2) Academic Year, Masters Programmes (Full-Time) is Two (2) Academic Years and (Part-Time) Three (3) Academic Years, PhD Programmes (Full-Time) is for Three (3) Academic Years and (Part-Time) Four (4) Academic Years.
MODE OF APPLICATION
The cost of application forms for (PgD, MSc, MPhil, PhD) is Two Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH¢250.00). For the Doctor of Engineering programmes, the cost of application forms is Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢500.00). Applicants are required to purchase the Online Admission E-vouchers from any branch of Access Bank, GCB Bank, Ecobank, Zenith Bank, Cal Bank, UBA, Fidelity Bank, Stanbic Bank and Post Offices in all Regional, Municipal and District Capitals.
Candidates should then proceed to the online admissions portal: umat.edu.gh/admissions/apply-now and begin the application process. Once the process is completed, candidates MUST PRINT OUT TWO (2) COPIES of the completed application form from the portal and submit them (by post) to the School of Postgraduate Studies together with all relevant documents (Photocopies of Certificates, Transcripts, One (1) Recommendation Letter/Confidential Reports, Statement of Purpose, and evidence on the ability to pay to the following address:

Any hand-delivered application shall not be processed. The closing date for submission of completed application documents is 14th June, 2024 for the July, 2024 Admission. Applications submitted after 14th June would be considered for January, 2025 Admission.
NB: All International Applicants should fill in the online admission code request form at www.admissions. umat.edu.gh with a valid mobile number format. For example, 00234 becomes 234. You will receive the Serial Number and Personal Identification Number to access the online admission system via text message and email. Complete the online registration process.
Print the completed form and add photocopies of relevant certificates including the original copy of the Bank Pay-in-Slip.

Senior and middle level management staff in the mining and allied industry as well as all qualified persons who intend to improve their knowledge in the disciplines listed. Applicants may go through a selection interview.

MSc/MPhil in Mathematics
Entry Requirements
MSc/MPhil in Mathematics (with Specialisation in Computational Mathematics/Statistics/Financial Engineering).
Applicants must have a BSc Degree (Second Class Lower Division or better) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering and Physical Sciences from a recognised University.
Applicants who do not satisfy (i) above but have degrees in Mathematics, Statistics with Economics, any Engineering field or other related physical sciences and are adjudged suitable by the Departmental Board may be interviewed.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must have a BSc Degree (Second Class Lower Division or better) or its equivalent in Business, Social or Physical Sciences, Technology and Engineering related programmes.
Note: Candidates with Bachelor’s Degree (Third Class/Pass) with relevant industrial experience in the field may be considered by some Departments for admission for the MSc/MPhil programmes after passing an interview.

Entry Requirements
PhD Programme Entry Requirements (a-h)
A candidate shall hold a Research Master’s Degree or its equivalent in the relevant field, from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
PhD Programme Entry Requirements (i&j)
PhD in Occupational Health and Safety
A candidate shall hold a Research Master’s Degree in Science, Engineering and Technology, Management or an equivalent qualification from a recognised University and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
PhD in Mathematics
A candidate shall hold a Master’s Degree in Mathematics (with specialisation in Statistics, Computational and Financial Engineering) or its equivalent from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
A candidate, who does not satisfy the requirements stated above but is otherwise adjudged suitable, may be admitted.
Note: A PhD applicant who does not hold a Research Master’s Degree shall first register for a master’s degree by research. If he/she proves himself/herself to be of sufficient calibre by the end of the first year of the programme, he/she may be recommended to register for the PhD Degree. This registration shall be deemed retrospective from the date of the original registration for the Master’s degree.
