Kenya’s Egerton University unrest, Police Brutalizes Unarmed Students
Kenya’s Egerton University unrest took a sad turn as armed police officers visited the campus and brutalized unarmed students.
Egerton University is the premier Agricultural public University in Kenya. It has, however, broadened to other areas of research and teaching such as Natural.
Students and other protesters have argued that the government has messed up with their institutions of higher learning.
According to information gathered by NewsGhana24, the Kenyan government stopped funding the projects and hence forced the administrators of universities to look for alternative sources of funding.
Huge debt has a lot of consequences to an extent the country may sink into poverty if care is not taken.
The demonstrations by students and the actions by administration might have compelled police to visit the campus and turned it into an athletics oval for students on campus to seek knowledge
Egerton University students were engaged in running battles as police beat them ruthlessly as though they were animals freed from a cage.

This is not only painting the nation black but also sending a bad signal about the government and security forces who have failed to apply the right force in dealing with the situation.
Human rights abuses are visible in videos captured and shared by unknown persons on social media and everyone around the world is talking about it.
Kenya’s Egerton University unrest needs to be dealt with properly as human rights advocates are watching Kenya and its security forces carefully. Some students believe police actions amount to terrorism. “Is it safe to say that a Kenyan student in a public institution can not have peaceful demonstrations without being treated like terrorists” one asked via twitter.
Parents and guardians are seeing how their children are being treated on campus and this is not good for Africa. Many students have since then left campus for their own safety. The university has also been closed down.

One such posts on twitter read: Police/Wananchi ratio is the only thing Uhuruto has perfected, It seems every Comrade here was assigned their own office to deal with, the excess had no option but work on passers-by at #EgertonUniversity Nakuru town college.
