WAEC extends private candidates registration period, school candidates to miss out

WAEC has extended the Private Candidates (PC) registration period to the end of May 2020. This extension has been necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is expected that the extension of the registration period will afford more candidates enough time to register for the private exams popularly known as NOV/DEC.
However, school candidates whose 2020 WASSCE has been postponed by the examining body may miss the second window of opportunity to register for the exams and just as the 2020 WASSCE date is uncertain so is the WASSCE NOV/DEC 2020.
Often, school candidates, after seating for their exams in April/May, register for the private candidates’ exams to sit for subjects they feel they might not pass in the school exams.
However, this year’s delayed school exams may not afford students the luxury. The best option available for such students is to make a good guess of the subjects they are struggling with while preparing for the 2020 WASSCE to register for the private candidates before the closing date.
According to the WAEC, the WASSCE NOV/DEC 2020 registration period is (10 Feb 2020 – 31 May 2020) however, the normal registration period is from10 Feb 2020 – 30 May 2020) and late registration period (30 May 2020 – 31 May 2020)
