UPSA Scholarships Awarded To 10 Ga Dangme Students
Scholarships being awarded are the best dream come true for most students in various educational backgrounds. And UPSA has made the dreams of 10 young undergraduates a possibility by granting full scholarships to them.
The University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) has awarded full scholarships to ten undergraduate students under the Ga Dangme Scholarship Scheme. The scholarship package covers full tuition, accommodation, and internship opportunities for the entire duration of the scholars’ studies.
The scholars who will be pursuing various programs at the University of Professional Studies Accra were officially presented with their letters at a brief ceremony held on 31st January, Friday. The scholars are as follows: Evangeline Naa Torshie Obodai, Samuel Paapa Buadu Qunsah, Ebenezer Nii Anyetei Sowah, Daniel Dzabley, Theodore Akuetteh Doku, Malaika Naa Odey Sackey, Trinity Raphael Nii, Odartey Lamptey, and Rejoice Yaa Asantewaa Quaye.
The scholars were selected from the Ga Dangme communities such as La, Osu, Ada, Nsakinaa, and Ga Mashie.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, congratulated the students on their achievement and urged them to remain committed and disciplined to their studies. He assured them that the university would monitor their academic performance and personal improvement while providing the necessary resources for their success.
“From today, don’t call yourselves future leaders. You are all leaders in one way or another. True leaders identify problems within their communities and develop innovative solutions,” Professor Mawutor stated, motivating them to aspire to leadership positions and make a difference in their communities.
The Registrar, Mrs. Lorraine Gyan, also advised the scholars, “As the first cohort of the Ga Dangme Scholarship Scheme, you are not just ambassadors of the Ga state but also torchbearers of the university.”. She also said, “We therefore expect you to conduct yourselves professionally and be of good behavior at all times.”.
Malaika Naa Odey Sackey, a first-year law student and one of the scholars, spoke on behalf of her colleagues, expressing gratitude to the management of UPSA and the Ga Dangme Council for the generous offer and honor bestowed upon them. She pledged to make their academic goals a priority and make their communities proud.
