As a candidate and a student, the last thing that should ever cross your mind is the thought of upgrading your results illegally. If you entertain this mentality after failing a WAEC examination, it means you actually failed and were not a good student after all. When you fail the WAEC exam, see it as an opportunity to prove your worth by studying harder and taking the next exam.
Upgrade your Nov/Dec, BECE, and WASSCE results is one of the most trending ads on social media today. The reason is simple. The Nov/Dec results are out, and many candidates who sat for earlier examinations and the 2019 Nov/Dec exams are counting their losses after their poor performance.
You can upgrade your Nov/Dec, WASSCE, or BECE results if you want to, but before you take that step, read this content. WAEC has been clear, indicating that it does not upgrade results yet many fall victims.
There are two main ways to upgrade your results when the November or December WASSCE or BECE results are released, but you failed the exams. These are the legal and illegal methods.
At times, like this, when the results of the exams are out and you fail the exams, frustration becomes a common phenomenon, and students, parents, guardians, and even teachers become helpless. Everyone begins to look for an easy way out of WAEC’s clutches.
Students want to pass their exams through the back door, and so they look out for every offered opportunity to catch WAEC on the break and get some fine results from the self-acclaimed Nov/Dec, WASSCE, or BECE results upgrade masters.
The illegal practice and way of changing results are gaining ground, and many students are falling for it. In 2017, I got a call from someone who promised good grades for a family friend. An amount of GHS4000 was demanded for the student to secure a minimum of B2 per subject, or the student was going to get no better than D7 and E8 when the results were released. I refused, and truly, the grades were between D7 and E8.
But why did I refuse to fall for the result upgrade and encourage the student to learn hard for the next seating? The 4 reasons why you should not upgrade your November/December results or any other are worth considering before you make that decision.
Some people have corrupted the examination system in Ghana and have turned WAEC result upgrades into a cash cow at the expense of the credibility of the exams.
They have links within WAEC that upgrade results in Liberia, Nigeria, and Ghana, just to mention a few. Such persons input the official results onto WAEC’s official sites and charge huge sums of money.
Many today upgraded Nov/Dec, WASSCE, or BECE results through forgery. The people who upgrade the results as soon as they download your results complete this forgery process in less than 5 minutes. They make these unofficial changes and send them to you in PDF form, and this never reflects on WAEC’s secured systems.
Dangers of a bad upgrade of results
If you upgrade your results in an illegal way,
1. You will be arrested and prosecuted.
If you upgrade your November/December results, WASSCE or BECE, and you get busted, what benefit do you get? WAEC is a no-nonsense examination body that only rewards genuine effort in its exams. If you managed to get it done, good for you, but WAEC can easily detect this, and if you and the person who upgraded your results are caught, you are surely going to face criminal charges. Your dreams and “good reasons” for the upgrade will be dashed.
2. You will be withdrawn from the university.
You will be withdrawn from the university, rusticated, or expelled, and even banned from accessing tertiary education.
University education is the dream of every student who has written the WASSCE or Nov/Dec. Now that the WAEC just released the November and December results, the hopes of many hang in the air because they failed to make the grades for the university.
If you pass through the back door to upgrade your November or December results, also know that the university you applied to will request your official results from WAEC. If WAEC releases the official result directly to the (Result Confirmation) and it does not tally with the one you got from the upgrade, the university will issue a public notice and you will lose your admission. Some students have lost their degrees and were stripped of their certificates several years after completion. Is that your dream? Have you considered the disgrace? Can you handle it?

3. Disgraced with a picture on the front page
WAEC and the university or tertiary institution will not hesitate to publish your details, along with your picture, in the newspapers and online. Consider the risk carefully, and you will realise that this is a risk that will destroy your life if it backfires.
4. You could be scammed.
In your moments of frustration after failing an exam like the Nov/Dec, WASSCE, or BECE, the only thing that comes to mind is to pay money to upgrade your Nov/Dec, WASSCE, or BECE result. There are many scammers online and offline who are targeting frustrated students.
Most of these result-upgrade officers never meet you face-to-face. If you pay so much to the person and you never see him or her, or he or she blocks the number you called for the deal, that is the end of the road.
So you see, you have to run from any advertisement that tells you that you can upgrade your November/December, WASSCE, or BECE. These are scams—dangerous and damming, to say the least.
But if you are burned on upgrading your results, I present the 3 acceptable ways to upgrade your Nov/Dec, WASSCE, or BECE.
Now that we know the four reasons why we should avoid illegal result upgrades and not upgrade your Nov/Dec results or those of WASSCE and BECE, let’s move on to see the acceptable ways to do it.
Legal Ways to Upgrade Your Nov/Dec, BECE, and WASSCE Results
1. Get Your Results Cross-Checked
If, for some reason, you feel cheated or think something might have gone wrong with your result, get your WASSCE, NOV/Dec, or BECE results cross-checked by WAEC. Very often, you would have to pay for the result to be cross-checked. Human inputs and the addition of your scores could be wrong and hence affect your result.
2. Getting Your Papers Remarked
At other times, if you believe you should have obtained a better grade than, say, C5, you can call for a remark on your script for a fee. If the results improve after that or otherwise, WAEC will upgrade your result officially.
3. Rewrite the WASSCE, NOV/Dec, or BECE
Today, you can rewrite any of the examinations. Be it WASSCE, NOV/Dec, or BECE, you can resit any of them and improve your grades. This is the last resort that many serious students have taken to succeed without trying any illegal process to be scammed. You will need a tutor or attend a remedial school if you can afford it to get yourself ready.
