1st STEM College of Education in Ghana: Bawumia cuts sod for construction

Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party, Mahamudu Bawumia, has cut the sod to start the construction of the 1st STEM College of Education for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for aspiring teachers.
The first college if completed will accommodate both male and female aspiring teachers, it also would have 800-seater auditorium, an ICT centre, living quarters for the Principal, Vice Principal and other Professional Teachers.
The name for the first STEM College of Education is Namburugu STEM College of Education. It is located in Karaga, a town in Northern Region.
The College would train STEM enthusiasts who have a thing for impacting knowledge onto others.
These STEM subjects acquired by these STEM enthusiasts shall be taught to senior high school students and other educational institutions in Ghana and the world at large.
During a speech presentation at the ceremony on Sunday, July 14, 2024, Dr. Bawumia highlighted NPP’s dedication to transform Ghana’s education sector to meet the demands of the the 21st century job market.
“This government continues to invest heavily in the education sector. This commitment is evident in many ways, including the provision of Free Senior High School, Free TVET education; building new, modern ICT-based schools; construction of specialised STEM High Schools, one of which is not too far from here, in Kpasinkpe, and recently, the supply of Tablets to students in SHS,” he stated.
Dr. Bawumia said the sod-cutting ceremony demonstrated their determination to prepare the youth for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Rev Ntim Fordjour urged the contractors to deliver a high-quality project promptly, saying “This historic institution will be a world-class training facility, providing skills and knowledge for those who would shape the minds of our children.”
