The Accra Circuit Court has convicted a 36-year-old job seeker for stealing a Samsung Galaxy A54 5G mobile phone belonging to a Principal Administrator of the Human Resource Unit of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
Foster Nyarko who was unemployed visited the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) office in October last year 2024 to follow up on his job application. After he realized that the office was empty, he stole the Principal Administrator of the Human Resource Unit phone valued at GHS 4999.
Foster Nyarko, who had been on the police wanted list, was nabbed on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 in connection with another case of theft at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Ridge-Accra. A Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) is said to have exposed Foster Nyarko for his nefarious act which also made the police to identify him. Charged with unlawful entry and stealing, Nyarko pleaded guilty. The Accra Circuit Court presided over by Basilia Adjei Tawiah on February 6th,2025 convicted Foster Nyarko on his own plea but deferred sentence to February 27, 2025.

The chief inspector Daniel Ofori Appiah, who led the prosecution, narrated the fact of the case stating that Foster Nyarko, an unemployed man from Effiekuma, Takoradi in the Western Region, approached the front desk of the CHRAJ Human Resources Unit on 23rd October, 2024 claiming he was following up on his job application.
“He entered the office of the complainant located on the first floor, Room number 15, but did not find her present. The accused person then made away with the complainant’s Samsung Galaxy A54 5G mobile phone from her office desk “ the prosecutor said. The complainant then reported the theft at the Ministries Police Station in Accra on October 2024.
Following further investigations, Foster Nyarko was arrested on January 30th, 2025, on n connection with another theft at Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. “The complainant and her witnesses provided a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage to the Ministries Police of the accused person and his movement leading to the theft of the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G mobile phone” as the chief inspector Daniel Ofori Appiah stated.
