If things were done right, I feel the Black Stars would have won a trophy. Ex-Black Stars and Milan star.
Former Milan and Black Stars midfielder Sulley Muntari yesterday in an interview revealed that the Black Stars of Ghana should have won a trophy by now if things were done right.
Sulley Muntari, a name that seems to be familiar to the Ghanaian football fans, is a former player of the Black Stars of Ghana and also the two Milan teams in Italy. In an interview he granted yesterday with 3Sports, an affiliate of the TV 3 network, the former football player revealed that the senior national soccer team of Ghana, the Black Stars, should have won more trophies by now if things were done right at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The Black Stars of Ghana have not been in their best form since last year, 2024, losing some matches against countries football fans and pundits thought they should have won. The Black Stars of Ghana even went the extra mile last year of not qualifying for the African Cup of Nations, which is expected to commence later this year. The senior national team of Ghana was housed in a group with Angola, Niger, and Sudan but could not get a win in any of their games during the qualifiers phase and came out with only two points, of which all were as a result of 2 games they ended up picking a draw.
In his interview yesterday, the former Black Stars and Milan star clearly said, “If things were done right, I feel they would have won a trophy long ago. But it is sad we play against Sudan and we cannot win.”. He also said a little about the captaincy issues. This is when head coach Otto Addo gave the armband to Mohammed Kudus and not Jordan Ayew. “It was handled horribly. It is the FA. They cannot control themselves; that is why that happened. Usually, the armband is handed to the most experienced player on the team,” he told 3Sports.
