Headmaster & Teacher Beaten by Angry Residents of Kokofu

Kokofu Junior High School (JHS) Headmaster and Teacher have been beaten by the Angry Residents of Kokofu within the Ashanti Region.
A teacher of the Kokofu Junior High School who caned a female student of his over truancy had the shock of his existence when the girl’s angry dad and mom and different residents stormed the school and subjected him and his headmaster to severe beatings.
The school was turned into a battleground as teachers and headteacher tried to run for their lives. However, they were subjected to severe beatings they never expected to suffer in an attempt to ensure discipline.
The alleged truant student in question Rukaya Asama, per account of pupils and other eyewitnesses, was caned by one of the teachers of Kokofu Junior High School for absenting herself from classes a number of times.
The Headmaster and teacher beaten mercilessly by angry residents was the result of the whipping the student received which did not go down well with her and the family.
The student rushed home, reported the matter to her parents for being targeted and punished disproportionately by the teacher.
Residents of the area were mobilized by the parents, psyched and led to the school to beat up the teacher and headmaster.
Upon arrival in the school, the residents went straight to the teacher’s class, without seeking any clarification. The teacher’s plea for mercy was ignored as he was attacked and beating to the pulp.
An attempt by the headteacher to intervene was greeted with a fair dose of the beatings by the angry group that stormed the school.
The teacher and headmaster have lodged a complaint with the police, and are receiving medical care in a hospital.
Teacher attacks have been a big headache in recent times and the Ghana Education Service needs to come out strong on this.
Some teachers and heads have lost their lives this year as a result of such attacks on facilitators. A teacher was beaten, and the school was closed down in V/R after a headteacher was murdered
