Police invites NDC Chairman, Ofosu Ampofo for questioning recent kidnappings, fire outbreaks
NDC Chairman, Ofosu Ampofo has been fingered by the CID in relation to the recent kidnappings, fire outbreaks been experienced in the country. The Ghana Police has, therefore, invited the NDC Chairman, Ofosu Ampofo for questioning recent kidnappings, fire outbreaks.
According to reports received by the Police after commencing their investigations, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo has been cited as having some interest in the current happenings in the country. A letter issued by the Ghana police inviting him to help in investigations has been served him.
The letter indicates that “some persons picked up for interrogation and investigation have mentioned your name as part of a grand scheme designed to cause fear and panic in the country.
In a related development, Kewku Boahen, the Deputy Communication Officer in responding to a telephone interview this afternoon on the matter believes the actions been taken are just to victimize the chairman and the NDC by the ruling government.
Party faithful are requesting that the chairman does not honour the invitation. The invitation is also in connection with the leaked audio in which the chairman is alleged to be the one talking in the audio.
The content of the letter from the Ghana Police to Mr. Ofosu Ampofo reads:
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into cases of kidnapping and fire outbreaks in various parts of the country. Intelligence gathered indicates that sonic of these kidnappings and fire outbreaks are being orchestrated by various unidentified groups, persons and individuals. Some of the persons picked up for interrogation and investigation have mentioned your name as part of a grand scheme designed to cause fear and panic in the country.
As a result of the above information and intelligence you are kindly requested to report to the undersigned on Thursday 9th May 2019 at 2pm to assist in our investigations. You may contact Chief Superintendent of Police Mr Baffour Apenteng Nyamekye on telephone number 0242814863 if you require further information or clarification. We look forward to your co-operation in this matter of national interest”.
