GES rubbishes Adutwum’s ‘parents are free to pay fees’ comment

Ghana’s Education Service (GES) has urged the general public particularly parents to disregard a comment reportedly made by the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum that parents are free to pay fees.
According to the Accra-based Starr FM, the Education Minister in an interview with Francis Abban said parents who wish to pay fees for their wards despite the Free SHS program are free to do that.
The local news media quoting Dr. Adutwum said “If you want to pay, give the money to the headmaster and say headmaster don’t receive money from the Ministry of education for my son, and we’ll applaud you for that.”
But, the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a social media post sighted by Educationweb.com.gh has said the alleged comment made by the Minister was misquoted and not exactly what he meant as published by the media.

GES comment comes after Adutwum replying to “if parents who are in the position to pay fees should be allowed question said, “if you want to pay go to any school and give your money to the headmaster, what is the problem.”
