Napo must apologize for Embarrassing DIPLOMA TEACHERS – Hon. Jerry Akporhor
NAPO MUST APOLOGIZE TO DIPLOMA TEACHERS AND COME FOR FREE EDUCATION. THE EDUCATION MINISTER HAS DISPLAYED HIS IGNORANCE ONCE AGAIN- THIS TIME, ITS TO THE EXTREME.
The call for him to APOLOGIZE TO DIPLOMA TEACHERS came just after the program.
In a viral video, the minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh was seen and heard making EMBARRASSING ignorant claims:

1. Graduate teachers direct from Universities are better teachers than diploma teachers from colleges of education.
2. Diploma teachers went to training college with worse grades because they can’t enter with those grades.
3. Diploma teachers went to college with only four passes instead of six.
After listening to him, I quickly remembered the very first time I was privileged to be in a meeting with him. After that meeting, I concluded that, he is ignorant. He knows practically nothing when it comes how things work in the education sector. His level of misconception is legendary.
I was shocked to realize that, he doesn’t know the various prepossess a newly trained teacher from college passes through before achieving full recognition. He knows nothing or little about out program/menteeship, he doesn’t know that the first year of employment is considered as PROBATION period by GES. He doesn’t also know that the first year of ENGAGEMENT is also considered as induction period by NTC. He doesn’t also know that teachers go through CONFORMATION process after successful probation and induction.

I was wondering, what else doesn’t he know? And now this. Oh it’s a pity. Meanwhile, he has two fine experienced gentlemen around him who can give him enough information but he keeps disgracing himself publicly. This is a free education for him. In case he doesn’t know:
1. Teaching is both an act and science. You can’t realy determine the true quality of a teacher by degree or diploma. There’s a degree holder who cannot teach like SHS certificate holder who is doing pupil teaching. We are in the classroom and we can tell you what you don’t know. Besides, colleges of education are institutions set up specifically to supply Ghanaian schools with competent teachers and that’s what they’ve achieved over the years.
2. I don’t know what you mean by worse grade, but to your information, the lowest accepted grade into teacher’s training college is C6. D7 also known as pass is not accepted the same way universities also don’t.
3. The claim that diploma teachers went to traning college with only four passes is unfounded and unfortunate. He should do himself a favor and call one of the Principals and educate himself on entry requirements.

4. Are we not in this country where graduate teachers are demonstrating for employment and he is not giving them a listening ear? I know graduate teachers a likely to side with him forgetting the how he has negetted them. Divide and rule tactics.
For me, I’m not surprised because I know him too well. But in fact, he must apologize. Akuffo Addo should have appointed one basic school headteacher as the sector minister. He would have done better.

Napo claims teachers with a diploma are not fit to offer instruction at basic schools and as such cannot be recruited into mainstream GES. To bolster his point which has not an iota of logic to it, he cites Finland where according to him, it is PHD holders who teach students from basic schools.
