Mohammed Salah leads charge in Premier League player of the season
Mohamed Salah has been named as one of the top contenders for the Premier League’s Player of the Season award, with two of his Liverpool teammates on the renowned shortlist. Salah’s outstanding performance has played a key role in Liverpool’s successful title bid under manager Arne Slot.
The Egyptian forward has already shattered the record for a 38-game campaign, and with just two matches remaining, he needs only one goal involvement to match the all-time single-season record of 47 combined goals and assists, shared by Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer.

Mohamed Salah has scored 28 goals and assisted 18 times this season. His outstanding performance has put him among the few players in Premier League history to top the charts in both categories in the same campaign.
Only four players, including Salah himself in 2021-22, have attain this feat in the competition’s history, pointing out his scoring dominance and consistency all the season long.
Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool teammates Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk are part of the eight nominees for the award, as Liverpool claimed the title with four games to spare, the earliest finish in Premier League history together with other historic clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United. The shortlist of the awards shows Liverpool’s dominant season and Salah’s outstanding contributions, establishing him as one of the league’s best.
While Liverpool celebrates its success, other clubs have their own standout performers in the running. Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White are also nominated, with Wood reaching 20 goals, a notable feat for Forest in the Premier League.
Gibbs-White has scored six goals and assisted eight times, taking Forest to a seventh-place finish and European qualification. Again Declan Rice if Arsenal and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak are also part of the top contenders, demonstrating a high level of attacking talents.
The nominations go beyond the main award, with eight young players competing for the Young Player of the Season honor. Gravenberch is also part of the sole nominee for both awards, while Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen is also in the running.
