Mike Tyson Hints At Possible Comeback
Mike Tyson is doing his best Michael Jordan impression, he’s making noises like he might be coming out of retirement. The former heavyweight champion released yet another training video this week showcasing that his speed and power are all still there. At the end of the video he said “I’m Back.” It seems The Last Dance has inspired us all, Tyson included. Iron Mike has already said that he’s considering a return to the ring for some exhibition bouts to raise money for charity.
Ever since Tyson said he would be willing to do some charity fights, several potential challengers have lined up for a chance to go toe to toe with one of the sports all time greats. New Zealand rugby great Sonny Bill Williams, who dabbled in boxing posting a 7-0-0 record and Australian Paul Gallen, another rugby player with a 9-0-1 record in the ring, have been touted as potential opponents. A more likely bet, however, would be Evander Holyfield with whom Tyson engaged in several epic bouts during their professional careers.
Holyfield (57) said he would love a third meeting with Tyson (53). When asked if a charity match could be arranged, Holyfield said, “I don’t know, you would have to ask him! I wouldn’t ask nobody to do anything they don’t want to do. But it’s for charity. If we can work something out that works for everybody then it’s a win-win-win.”
Tyson reportedly has already been offered $20 million for a fight with an athlete from Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. Mike, who has found peace in his retirement from boxing and currently has a successful legal marijuana business, has not commented on whether or not he would fight Holyfield for charity. Holyfield on the other hand is ready saying, “I’m not afraid of Tyson or anything like that, as long as it works for both of us financially. I wouldn’t ask for him to do it if he didn’t want to. He’d have to ask me. It’s like being the bully, I already beat him twice.”
