Double Trouble as lightning kills 20 during COVID-19 lockdown. The sad event occurred in Congo.
According to the news which was reported by the authorities, the lightning struck on high-voltage power lines in Congo Brazzaville.
The sad natural disaster occurred on day one of Congo’s lockdown aimed at containing and fighting the spread of coronavirus. As at the time of reporting, Congo had reported 22 COVID-19 cases and two deaths.

According to eye witness accounts, when the lightning struck, the power line fell on a house, setting it on fire. Another cable struck a pool of water in a courtyard and also electrocuted neighbours. These concurrent incidents led to the loss of 20 lives.

Heavy torrential rains have not seized in Kintele for several hours. Ambulances available could not deal with the numbers. The injured and dead in the accident were rushed to some hospitals with the help of private individuals who offered their vehicles to deal with the disaster.
