Kwame Jantuah Claims Politics is now a Lucrative Business
Kwame Jantuah, a member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has raised serious concerns about the direction of politics how politics is now a lucrative business, and development in Ghana since gaining independence. He believes that politics has now become a profession, with politicians enriching themselves at the expense of the nation’s resources.
Jantuah questions whether politicians should be using the country’s money to make themselves wealthy. He strongly believes that if politicians are getting rich through politics, they are essentially stealing from the people. He expressed these views during an interview on 3FMSunrise with Johnnie Hughes, while discussing Ghana’s 67th Independence Day Celebration.
One of Jantuah’s main concerns is the lack of accountability and leadership when it comes to addressing corruption. He wonders who will have the courage to point fingers at corrupt politicians and who will actually listen. He emphasizes the need for strong leadership that prioritizes the interests of the people over personal gain, people join politics because it is now a lucrative business .
Reflecting on the significance of Independence Day, Jantuah emphasizes the importance of leaders showcasing the progress of the nation and their vision for the future. He believes that leaders should be able to demonstrate where Ghana has come from, where it currently stands, and the path it should take. He also mentions his involvement in drafting a 40-year national development plan aimed at guiding the country’s economic and social growth.
However, Jantuah expresses disappointment over the lack of implementation and public awareness about the plan. He questions the whereabouts of the document and how many Ghanaians have actually read it. He believes that the national development plan has the potential to combat corruption and lead the nation towards sustainable development.
