Shatta Wale’s parents labeled him disrespectful whenever he expressed his feelings about their separation, leading him to flee his home in search of peace. This decision left him homeless, and he was forced to sleep on the streets, in front of stores, and even at filling stations. The trauma he experienced during this period was exacerbated by the fact that he had to rely on prostitutes at Nkrumah Circle for support.

As a result of his experiences, Shatta Wale developed a trauma response of isolating others. He has learned to cut people off without hesitation whenever they cause him stress or negativity. This coping mechanism, although effective for him, has also led to him being dubbed “the chief cutter.”
