King Promise ignores Stonebwoy’s congratulatory message after his TGMA win
After winning the Artiste of the Year title at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), King Promise received a congratulatory post from Stonebwoy, the previous winner. However, the ‘Paris’ hitmaker is yet to respond directly to the message.
In an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz on May 13, King Promise was asked whether he had seen Stonebwoy’s message on X (formerly Twitter). He replied, “I’ve been told of it, I have actually. Haven’t been on Twitter today. I don’t think it’s a big deal; I’ve received the congratulations. I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t really think it’s anything to speak about.”
Stonebwoy’s post, shared on May 12, read: “Congratulations @IamKingPromise on your win and your debut entry into the league of AOTY winners. You’re welcome.”
Last year, both artistes competed for the top spot, with Stonebwoy winning. This year, King Promise won over strong contenders such as Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, Black Sherif, King Paluta, Team Eternity, and Kwaku Smoke.
Besides Artiste of the Year, King Promise also won Afropop Song of the Year with Paris, Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste, and Album of the Year with True to Self.
Stonebwoy did not leave empty-handed. He took home Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year with Psalm 23, and Best Music Video of the Year.
Some fans believe King Promise might be ignoring Stonebwoy’s message as payback for last year when Stonebwoy did not publicly acknowledge King Promise’s congratulations. Others think Stonebwoy’s tone in the tweet may have sounded a bit sarcastic or condescending.
When asked again on air, King Promise said he had seen and replied to some congratulatory messages, just not all. “I have responded on a few, the ones I saw when I went on the app, I responded to everyone,” he said.
The situation has sparked conversations among fans, but for now, King Promise insists it’s nothing worth making a fuss about.
