Video: Headteacher of Likpe Nkwanta Basic School Abuses and Slaps Students

An opinion leader in the Likpe Nkwanta area in the Volta Region has revealed in a video that the Headteacher of Likpe Nkwanta Basic School abuses and slaps students of his school. Gershon Vim Olokodzoko in his video indicated that the headteacher of the school sometimes uses pupils for all manner of child labour related activities during contact hours.
He indicated that the school leadership and some teachers sometimes ask students to go and weed in their personal farms and in the farm of other persons whiles at certain times, the school children are asked to carry boards cut with chainsaw from the deep forest in the area to town for teachers personal gain. These are activities the school children are forced to engage in instead of being in classroom learning.

A recent occurrence according to Gershon Vim Olokodzoko is that the headteacher sacked the pupils of the school to go home because their parents did not report for communal labour. Sadly many of these children walk long distances from villages for at least 2 hours before getting to school, they had to walk the same distance home just to call their parents to report to answer queries of the headteacher.
The code of ethics for teachers and the teaching profession frowns on all the above but the headteacher and teachers of the Likpe Nkwanta Basic School are used to abusing the children in the school and taking the law into their own hands. According to the whistleblower’s, information revealed in the video, he was challenged by the headteacher and some of his teachers one of whom was known as Sir David who was an accomplice of the unacceptable behaviour.
Some of the code of the GES broken by the Headteacher and his staff are indicated below
According to Gershon Vim Olokodzoko, the teachers and the headmaster victimized the school children severally after he challenged them as to why they sent the children home during contact hours and he was abused verbally by the teachers in the school as well for asking them legitimate questions as a concerned member of the community.
He, therefore, decided to take the needed action to ensure the laws and codes of the GES on teachers behaviour are implemented and the headteacher with his arrogant teachers in Likpe Nkwanta Basic School face the full arm of the professional codes of conduct of their profession.
He used the opportunity to educate the headteacher and the teachers to do what is right and respect the rights of the learners but his efforts did not yield the needed results hence his decision to make a video on the matter.
We call on the Ghana Education Service to take the necessary action to ensure, the teachers and headteacher of Likpe Nkwanta basic school conduct themselves well.
