Girl defiled, Police accused and death threats intensifies, where is the Justice?
The family of a defiled teenage girl is crying for justice as the threat of death intensifies as efforts are made to pursue legal action. The victim was defiled at age fourteen (14) by ‘grandfather’, aged 60.
The said grandfather usually took the teenager to school and back, one day he orchestrated a journey to school and took the girl to an unknown location and succeeded in defiling her. The incident was reported at the Kwabenya Police Station. The case was again moved to the Madina Police Station due to the lack of capacity to deal with the matter.

The police have failed to provide details to the Attorney-General when the delaying of the case got reported to the office. The police at the Madina police station are suspected to have connived with the suspect and his family who might have left Ghana.

She was living under the same roof with him in Ghana when the incident happened. The victim is a foreigner, a Yemeni national for that matter. The police have been blamed for what is going on by the lead counsel Justice Abdulai.
In Yemen, rights experts have continued to flag violations of rape and sex abuse. These are acts that according to their culture is worse than death. Rape in the Arab world leads to stigmatization and such a victim is seen as one who is no longer marriage material.
The suspect after being granted bail has not shown up for the past one year. To make the case worse, the father of the victim has revealed that death threats and threats of harm have become a normal ritual which is affecting them if the police continue to treat the case the way they are doing now.

According to him, Mr. Hassan Zein the intermediary appointed by the Chief Imam Sheikh Nuhu Shaributu and some family members have tasted false accusations and the other issues stand in the way of justice.
Justice delayed is justice denied. The father of the victim said, “The suspect and his assigns have started threatening Hassan Zain with death. They keep smearing him with unfounded allegations and claims because he has been appointed to help find justice for the family.”
The girl defiled needs justice, but is the police who are to lead in this regard really the unaccepted impediment to justice?. No one is safe if this is true.
