The chip-embedded or e-passport is a modernization of the existing biometric passport being used by Ghanaians.
Its design integrates features of our rich cultural heritage, including Adinkra symbols such as “Fawohodie” (Freedom and Independence) and “Funtunfunefu Denkyemfunefu” (Democracy and Cooperation).
During a meeting which took place in Accra on Wednesday April 23, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said the unveiling of the new biometric passports is aimed at enhancing passport security, removing the role of intermediaries and increasing accountability in the passport application process.
