Ghana Medical and Dental Council welcomes 72 new medical and dental practitioners
The Ghana Medical and Dental Council recently welcomed seventy-two (72) newly qualified medical and dental practitioners into the esteemed health profession.
These individuals, hailing from various training institutions in the country including the University for Development Studies School of Medical Sciences (UDS-SMS), the University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology School of Medical Sciences (KNUST-SMS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology School of Dental School (KNUST-DS), and the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences (UCC-SMS), as well as foreign-trained doctors, have successfully passed the Council’s professional qualifying examinations through their dedication and hard work.
Having proven their capabilities by excelling in the rigorous Licensure Examinations conducted by the Medical and Dental Council (MDC) of Ghana, these graduates have not only met but surpassed the required training standards to practice as distinguished Medical Doctors and Dentists in Ghana.
As a significant step in their professional journey, the inductees will participate in the solemn swearing of the Hippocratic Oath, symbolizing a pivotal moment in their careers.
During the induction ceremony held at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons’ main auditorium in Accra on Friday, March 8, Dr. Divine Ndonbi Banyubala, the Registrar for the MDC, urged the new practitioners to uphold the Council’s core values of ‘Guiding the professions, Protecting the Public.’
He emphasized the importance of professional accountability in promoting and safeguarding public health, safety, and well-being, as well as fostering trust and confidence in the medical profession and its practitioners.
The Medical and Dental Council, a statutory agency under the Ministry of Health, is entrusted with the professional regulation of Doctors, Dentists, and Physician Assistants in Ghana.
Guided by the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act, 2013 (Act 857), the Council’s primary objective is to ensure the highest standards in the training and practice of medicine and dentistry in the country.
