Court orders arrest of CID boss and another
The Accra High Court has issued arrest warrants for the Director General (DG) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) AKA CID Boss and the DG of the Legal and Prosecution Unit of the Ghana Police Service, following their repeated failures to appear in court.
They are facing charges of contempt for not complying with the court’s orders.
This development emerged from a legal action initiated by Sureword Global Outreach, which sought the release of an impounded vehicle bearing the registration number GN 2925-20.
Despite multiple court orders, the two officials failed to present themselves in court, prompting their legal counsel, Abraham Arthur, to request their committal for contempt of court during the proceedings on Monday, April 15.
The court noted that the respondents had willfully disregarded its directives, leading to the decision to issue bench warrants for their arrest.

The orders were specific, instructing the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure the appearance of the CID and Legal and Prosecution directors before the court on Monday morning.
Although the IGP carried out these orders, the officials did not appear in court.
Documentation and an affidavit of service were presented to the court, confirming that the IGP had been properly served with the court’s previous order on March 26.

Expressing its determination to uphold the rule of law, the court remarked on the need to treat all individuals equally under the law, emphasizing that no person is above its mandates.
This firm stance resulted in the issuance of the bench warrants, marking a significant move to enforce judicial authority and maintain legal compliance among high-ranking police officials.
