Christiana Afua Nyarko writes:Fathers! Your contributions are worth more
In Africa, particularly in Ghana, it seems like the immense and very important contributions, impact and legacies by our mothers are ganguantuanly hailed and recognized more often.
Mother’s day in our beloved country, throughout the years of commemoration has become a ‘world cup’ to many families, organisations (The media included), individuals, churches and more.
The kind of hyping that special day gets, set some father’s wondering if their contributions is worth any less. My answer is a big NO!
Today being Father’s day in Ghana and others parts of the world, millions of children; both grownups and young alike are happy mark it but, for others, it brings nothing but fresh bitter memories of neglect, abuse, pain, hatred and resentment.
Nonetheless, I will not touch on that. My main focus is on the millions who took day and night, show some love and care and give their all to keep the soul and body of families together.
As much as millions have failed in their fatherhood duties, millions more are very dedicated on a daily basis; offering spiritual, financial and emotional support as natural heads of families which may not be necessarily nuclear.
Millions of these dedicated males both in Ghana and the world over ‘break their backs’ in the mines, factories, vehicle stations,in hospitals, schools, on the streets, in the trenches on the battlefields, various tunnels, in the farms and various other places, whether good or bad just to ensure that the next meal is put on the table, school fees, rent utilities and many more are paid.

At home, others even help their children with their homeworks, offer solutions to various problems.
These days some non-conservative father’s help with the home chores and even babysit.
The contribution of fathers are equally significant that is why a home where a father is absent is more likely to experience very harsh challenges of life than homes where both parents assume their duties and responsibilities with passion.
Let us pause and consider some research done on the consequences of not having a father in the lives of their children.
It has been discovered that children whose fathers are deeply involved in their kids upbringing are likely to perform very well in school. Why? It is due to the fact that that men are mostly results-oriented hence, will drive their kids to strive for success.
Homes with fathers deeply involved are less likely to breed truant children and are less likely to be involved in crime or spend time in jail or involve themselves in narcotics.
Children with both parents and the father becoming more involved are less likely to drop out of school or be overwhelmed with life’s greatest challenges.

The above Revelations should show us how fathers and what they stand for can never , yes! Never be underestimated or replaced by technology, single parenting or any modern concept or development.
Since the beginning of the world until now, fathers have being the cause of many problems as well as the channel of many great solutions.
Taking them out of the equation means calling for the total breakdown of societies.
The world can never be complete without their efforts. If families are stable, it is because they contributed .
Whether the world likes it or not! A Father’s contribution, efforts, love and carr in his daughter’s or son’s life is the greatest legacy that is seldomly told in this mordern world.
As modern as life gets, the Creator if this world will never relax or compromise his vision or rules on fatherhood. It is a strong that will continue to hold families, communities and even states together.
AYEKOOO!! to all Fathers everywhere. Your contributions, efforts and Guidance is worth more than what humanity thinks.
We love you despite your flaws.
From a grateful daughter
