Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry while speaking at the press conference said 1200 protestors peacefully commence their protest but it turned violent after they had left.
“We’re not going to tolerate it in our city or let our city burn to the ground,” he said. Some 30 cities in US have joined in the protest over the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed black man murdered by a police officer.
Protestors have called for all four police officers to be charged for having a role to play in George Floyd’s death. The main suspect, a former police officer who had his knee on George Floyd’s neck has already been charged with murder and manslaughter but protestors hold the view that it is not harsh enough.
Jacksonville officer slashed in the neck is the latest update but more violent protest ongoing in the US.
