Bank of Ghana is the African Central Bank of the Year for 2019. This was celebrated by the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo. The happy president took to Twitter to extend his warmest congratulatory message to the bank and the country.

I extend warm congratulations to the Bank of Ghana on being adjudged African Central Bank of the Year for 2019. This is in recognition of the excellent work undertaken by the Governor and officials of the Bank in reforming Ghana’s banking sector, and also for the emphasis, they have placed on the growth of digital infrastructure
Ayekoo, and I am confident that the best days of the Bank, and, indeed, of Mother Ghana, herself, lie ahead.

This success comes in the wake of the closing down of several banks and financial institutions in Ghana over the past year. Winning the African Central Bank of the Year award for 2019 is an indication that, the Bank of Ghana is becoming a force to reckon with regarding good policy initiatives and implementation in the banking sector in Africa.
