Avoid suspicious links offering loans or MoMo services: MTN to customers
MTN Ghana, as part of its efforts to combat MoMo fraud in all forms, has reminded its customers of the need to safeguard their MoMo accounts. The telecom company further advised clients to avoid clicking on suspicious loan-granting apps or links shared with them.
In an SMS alert from MTN to its clients, sighted by NewsGhana24, MTN provided the following tips:
- Do not click on suspicious links offering loans.
- Avoid using illegitimate loan apps that claim to offer MoMo services.
- Never provide personal information to such fraudulent apps, whether via SMS or email.
MTN also emphasized that it does not request customers’ PINs or personal details. To enhance safety, the network urged customers to refrain from sharing unverified loan-related links and information.
Customers have been advised to be cautious of suspicious apps and links and to report any fraudulent activity through MTN MoMo services by dialing *170#, using the MyMTN app, the MyMoMo app, or emailing mmfraudteam.GH@mtn.com.
