Asantehene Urges Ghana to Save Democracy Ahead of Elections
As Ghana gears up for the upcoming elections in December, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged citizens to uphold the democratic process and refrain from actions that may undermine it.
During the celebration of his 25th anniversary as the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool, the Asantehene highlighted the significance of creating a stable environment for voters to make informed decisions during elections.
“This year marks another election year.
Our political leaders have already hit the campaign trail, with many months of vigorous campaigning ahead.
In light of our past experiences, it is crucial that we safeguard our democracy.
“However, we must not become complacent.
We must remain vigilant to prevent any disruptions to the electoral process.
People need a conducive environment to make choices that benefit the nation,” he emphasized.
The Asantehene also called upon the country’s business community to strengthen their efforts and stressed the importance of growing Ghana’s economy.
Additionally, he reiterated the urgent need to combat illegal mining activities, commonly known as ‘galamsey’, to protect the nation’s environment.
“Education continues to be a top priority, but perhaps an even greater emphasis should be placed on reclaiming our environment from the devastation caused by galamsey.
We cannot allow our forests and water resources to be depleted at the hands of a few individuals for their personal gain.

We must stand united against this menace,” the Asantehene emphasized.
