EOCO Boss Maame Tiwaa Now Chairperson Of Anti-Corruption Agencies In Commonwealth Africa

Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) Executive Director, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah (Mrs), has been chosen as the chairperson to lead Anti-Corruption Agencies in Commonwealth Africa.
She was elected as Chairperson at the 14th Commonwealth Regional Conference for Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Africa held in Accra, Ghana.
COP Maame Tiwaa takes over from the Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission of Seychelles, who led at the 13th conference in Seychelles.
In her acceptance speech, she emphasized the crucial role of leaders in fighting corruption within their countries.
“It is clear that corruption is a major obstacle to our nations’ development and progress.
It weakens the rule of law, diminishes public trust in institutions, and perpetuates inequality and injustice.
As leaders, we must confront corruption with determination and commitment”, she stated.

She pledged to fulfill her duties as Chairperson and called for close cooperation among member agencies to achieve the association’s goals.
“I am thankful to all member agencies for entrusting me with this responsibility. I will serve with integrity, impartiality, and dedication, mindful of the immense duty that comes with this position.
Together, we must strengthen anti-corruption measures, enhance collaboration among agencies, and promote accountability at all levels of society.
We must use technology to improve our investigative capabilities and ensure quick justice for corrupt individuals.
She also highlighted the importance of working with civil society, the private sector, and international partners to combat corruption collectively.
Their input and support are crucial in building a transparent future for all Africans”, she stated.
Looking ahead to her term as Chairperson, she expressed her commitment to promoting collaboration, enhancing collective efforts against corruption, supporting innovative solutions, and sharing best practices within the Commonwealth Africa network.
She thanked delegates for giving her the opportunity to serve and vowed to fulfill her duties with courage, determination, and hope.
The Profile Of Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah
Maame is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Forensic Accountant. She holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance Option) Degree from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
Maame was the Director of Commercial Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for more than 3 years as well as the Director of CID Trainings for 3 years.
For more than 20 years, Maame has played a leading role in fraud detection and investigations both within the CID, the Public and Private sectors.
She has attended over a dozen conferences and training events in financial crime investigations.
She has also facilitated in more than 25 training programs in fraud investigations both within Ghana for the Financial Institutions and abroad.
