The Ghana Police Service has secured the transfer of a notorious armed robbery suspect, Adinda Akpo Abdou Moudjibou, whose high-profile criminal activities terrorized residents of elite Accra neighborhoods between 2022 and 2024.
The suspect, who used multiple names including Rashid Bawa, Maxwell, Papa Rich, and Dawa, was targeted by police investigations after being caught on CCTV footage during multiple robbery operations in areas such as East Legon, Cantonments, Ridge, Tesano, Airport Residential Area, and Adjiriganor.
In a media briefing in Accra, Director-General of the CID, DCOP Lydia Donkor said after a public announcement was made on October 3, 2023, concerning the suspect being under active investigation, the police set up security measures and intelligence tracking in affected areas. Investigations later revealed that Moudjibou had escapes to another neighboring country.
His partner in crime Alidu Marzouk, was arrested on September 4, 2024, and has been providing assistance to investigators. Moudjibou, managed to escape and was believed to be secretly residing in Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, or Nigeria. The ongoing investigation confirmed that he was secretly residing in Togo using both Ghanaian and Togolese identification.
A warrant for his arrest was issued by the Adabraka District Court on September 5, 2024. He was later added to INTERPOL’s Red Notice in response to a request by Ghanaian authorities.
On January 30, 2025, the Togolese officers arrested the suspect in Lomé, after a collaborative effort with INTERPOL Accra and INTERPOL Lomé. After an extensive period of legal and support operations, the Togolese government approved his handover to Ghana on May 12, 2025.
As per DCOP Donkor on May 14, 2025, a team of five representatives from Ghana, headed by senior police official, left Accra on a military aircraft to Lomé. The suspect was formally handed over by Commissaire Principal de Police Assi Elo Ani, Director-General/CID of the Togo National Police Force, in front of officials from the Ghana Embassy in Lomé.
Moudjibou is currently in police custody in Ghana and providing assistance to the investigation authorities.
