7 Mistakes (SINS) Teachers Commit -A must read
Teachers are tasked with inculcating knowledge and values of the society in their learners. In some societies teachers are considered as perfect beings. But this is not the fact. Teachers are equally mortals and therefore make mistakes from time to time.
Our focus is not to blame or castigate the teachers in our societies for such mistakes. But pointing out a few things will surely help them to make the necessary corrections if they so wish. Let us look at a few of such flaws in some teachers.
1. Most teachers never relate well with their colleagues in the schools. It is a common thing for some teachers to form cliques against each other in the same school. Some are not even on talking terms.
2. Most teachers never make any investment. They rely solely on their monthly salaries. Meanwhile, teachers have much time after school and during vacations. A few industrious teachers invest their extra time and money into other productive ventures. Most of the teachers too never do any productive work during vacations. This is why you need to read 6 Priceless Investment Advice for SMART Teachers
3. Some teachers never accept positive change. As time goes on, new methods of teaching effectively are propounded. It will be good if all teachers welcome the new ideas. Some of them readily accept change. Others are very conservative.
4. Some teachers think they know everything. This a grave mistake. Nobody knows everything under the sun. Learning only stops to take place when one dies. Teachers have to be learning from news broadcasts, the internet and others.
5. Most teachers refuse to consult their colleagues concerning challenging topics or methods of teaching. They think consulting their friends will mar their reputation. This is a lame perception. As a teacher, your ego does not matter when you seek more knowledge.
6. Another mistake most teachers make is disrespecting their Superiors. Insubordination!!! Perhaps, they think they are older, richer or even knowledgeable than such authorities.
7. Some teachers tend to shirk responsibility. They leave their works and expect junior or newly posted teachers to do such works. It is a fact that even in the Animal kingdom, seniority prevails. What those teachers must know is that they were paid for all their services rendered before the new teachers came. Deliberately leaving what you are entitled to do for another person is a mistake.
It is expected that teachers in both the public and private schools look at these mistakes and correct them. What advice do you have for our dear teachers? Leave a comment.
