Coalition for Newly Trained Teachers Boss Mr. Jonathan Apam
A section of the 2019 batch of newly trained teachers were not paid their salary arrears in April although they have validated their details . The salary arrears in question cover December 2019, January, February, and March 2020.
This development created some tension, but it took the swift intervention of the leadership of the Coalition for Newly Trained Teachers led by Mr. Jonathan Apam to give reasons for the anomaly.

In a post sighted by NewsGhana24.com, Mr. Jonathan Apam said
“I have noticed the nonpayment of salary arrears of a section of 2019 Newly Posted Teachers who did their validation in April which includes the months of December 2019, January, February and March 2020.
I have had a discussion with the Director General of GES inquiring the possible reasons for the nonpayment of the said arrears.
Though he tells me that it’s just an abnormally, I have pleaded with him to expedite action together with Controller and Account General’s Department to ensure that the purported abnormally is corrected as quick as possible to avoid legacy arrears on the government.
I have also engaged the media and all the teacher unions to assist in the quest. I shall proceed to engage the Controller and Accountant General in the coming week for the way forward.
Let’s keep the hope alive and engage all the agencies involved. It will end well. For the love of all my fellows. Thanks”
I have engaged the Controller and Accountant General’s Department today concerning the nonpayment of the four months salary arrears of a section of the 2019 Newly Posted Teachers. I am informed that, due to the covid-19 lockdown, most of its officers who were supposed to ensure quality assurance and genuine payment of salary arrears were not at post. Thus, it was a deliberate decision to pay all payroll workers their April’s salary excluding all arrears. Payment of all arrears will be done in May,2020. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that it so happens.
IPPD officers at the GES headquarters still working on the rest of the staff IDs of some newly posted teachers and will release them appropriately.
Unposted newly trained teachers should still hold on for information from GES on when specifically they will be employed.
Let me assure you all that I shall be doing follow up on all the matters mentioned. For the love of my fellows. Thanks
