We’ve constructed more airports than any govt in the 4th Republic – Bawumia
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has praised the infrastructural achievements of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration as outstanding, that his government has constructed more airports than any government in the 4th Republic.
Dr. Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 general elections, claimed that the current government has exceeded all prior administrations in the Fourth Republic.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted some of these accomplishments, including the administration’s performance which he says has constructed more airports, roads, and railways than any other government throughout the Fourth Republic. He also emphasized the tremendous growth of public libraries.
“We’ve constructed more roads than any other government in the Fourth Republic, done more railways, constructed more airports, and built more public libraries than any other government in the Fourth Republic,” he stated.
Dr. Bawumia also commented on the improved economic performance under the NPP administration, saying, “That collapsed economy is performing better than your [John Mahama’s] economy, which you left us.”
He also stressed the NPP’s contribution to employment creation, citing the creation of 2.1 million jobs, the greatest in the Fourth Republic.“We have created more jobs, 2.1 million jobs, than any other administration in the Fourth Republic. He [Mahama] was creating unemployment with dumsor and everything,” he explained.
“We are creating jobs, 1.2 million jobs in the public sector and 975,000 jobs in the private sector. And all of this is data that we have put out for everybody to see,” Dr. Bawumia added.
These remarks were given in response to former President John Mahama at Ghana’s 8th CEO Summit, in Accra.
At the same event, Mr. Mahama lambasted the government for its high unemployment rate.
“Unemployment has jumped to 14.7% from 8.5% in 2017, the highest level recorded in the history of the Fourth Republic; inflation is above 25%, and the current interest rates range between 30% and 50%,” Mahama stated.
“The exchange rate, which was previously at 4.00 Ghana cedis to the US dollar, has crossed the 15 Ghana cedis threshold, and there appears to be no end in sight to the deterioration of the cedi,” Mahama noted.
In contrast, Dr. Bawumia stressed that the current government’s developmental projects are tangible and easily verifiable especially with the constructed more airports, demonstrating the administration’s dedication to transparency and accountability.
