(WASSCE) candidates dismissed

WAEC to organize independent WASSCE for Ghana alone and it is looking more like it now that final year students at the Senior High School are going back to school. The examining body has revealed its preparedness to organize the exams for Ghana alone. The independent WASSCE exams for Ghana is the result of the infamous coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah The Minister of Information hinted in a Citi FM radio interview on June 1, 2020.

Barring any last-minute hitches, Ghana will be writing a different WASSCE exam ahead of Nigeria, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. Thus, Ghana will not write the usual standardized test organized by WAEC for final year students in Senior High School in the five west African countries.

Both the BECE AND WASSCE exams for 2020 were suspended by the government to help curb the spread of the Covid-19 in March this year. This decision has affected the 2019/2020 academic calendars of all levels of education in Ghana, Africa, and the world.

On 31st May, Ghana’s COVID-19 restrictions were eased and final year students are to report to school from the 15th of June to complete their preparation for the 2020 WASSCE exams and the BECE.

Final year students at the Universities are also to return to school this month to complete their programs of study.

Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah The Minister of Information said Ghana’s ability to bring the disease under control meant that the country could go-ahead to organize the 2020 WASSCE exams for its students with the help of  WAEC. He was quick to add that, the Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh will provide detailed information on the way forward.

We urge our students in Ghana to keep on preparing for the exams and keep a positive mindset, a determined spirit, and a focused effort whiles preparing.  The WASSCE exam for Ghana is likely to happen soon.
