University students eyeing a semester without exams
Must we even write exam, can’t they just call all of us, and tell us to swear that we understand the course?
University students in Ghana and Nigeria have started eyeing a semester without exams curtesy the COVID-19 pandemic. The call has started trending on social media as students join the conversation.

Twitter is buzzing and the wish seems to have caught up with students as it generated 100 comments, over 4000 retweets, and more than 95000 people showed they loved the thought.
Funny enough, the twitter user who started it all when asked how people were to be graded, it sked that those with guilty faces upon being invited should be awarded a “B”.
Such a decision will be difficult to take unless the universities decide to use students’ interim assessments or assignments submitted as the basis. Again, that will be flawed because some universities closed without the interim assessments. A typical example being the University of Ghana and KNUST among others.
Universities could conduct online examinations as well. Some of the thesis online exams once commenced you cannot research online and using your books could also create problems.

Again, there are final year students who are writing their thesis but cannot go out to collect data because of the current COVID-19. Research can not be graded unless they are completed hence technically, it is not possible.
The semester without exams will not fly as many universities will adjust their vacations and ensure the academic calendar is not overly put off radial. However, semester without exams will depend on how long the COVID-19 takes before its impact is curtailed across the world.

The rescheduled semester exams will also determine vacation and reopening as well.
