Offset’s alimony request adds new twist to Cardi B divorce proceedings
Offset has formally requested spousal support from his estranged wife, Cardi B, as their divorce proceedings continue. According to court documents filed in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court earlier this month, the Migos rapper amended his response to Cardi’s divorce petition to include a demand for alimony, though the specific amount remains undisclosed.
The couple, who married in 2017, have experienced a tumultuous relationship marked by multiple separations and reconciliations. Cardi B filed for divorce in August 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. At the time, she sought primary custody of their two children, daughter Kulture and son Wave, as well as their then-unborn third child. Her representative stated that the decision was “not based on any one particular incident” but had “been a long time coming and is amicable.”
However, the divorce has been anything but amicable. In December, a heated exchange on social media saw Offset accusing Cardi of inappropriate behavior, to which she retorted, “So dating because I’m single means I’m just worried about d—?? You sound like a dummy,” later adding, “F— off and sign the papers TODAY.”
In February, Offset filed for joint custody of the children, proposing that Cardi’s home serve as their primary residence. He also requested an equal division of marital assets and that each party cover their own legal expenses.
This is not the first time Cardi has filed for divorce. In September 2020, she initiated proceedings in Georgia, stating it wasn’t “because of cheating,” despite ongoing rumors of infidelity. The couple reconciled within a month, with Cardi explaining on Instagram Live, “It’s hard not to talk to your best friend.”
As the current divorce case unfolds, neither Cardi B nor Offset has publicly commented on the latest developments. The court has yet to rule on the spousal support request.
