Dr Adutwum speaking on Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV monitored by Georgeweb.org said the central government introduced the cut-off point in previous years due to insufficient space in various second-cycle schools.
Asked if the Education Ministry lowered the qualification bar for entry into Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the previous years, Dr Yaw Adutwum said: “there was never a qualification other than what was called cut-off, and the cut-off was based on space availability, but for now, there is no pass mark”

The Teaching Minister furthered that the previous cut-off point did not mean a candidate has failed but rather it was about insufficient space in the about public 721 Senior High Schools (SHSs) across the country.
“The previous cut-off point situation wasn’t so much about you have failed, it was about there is no space for you”.
