Kofi Adomah Nwanwani gives health update after eye injury from gun shot

Ghanaian broadcaster Kofi Adomah Nwanwani has shared the latest news about his health after several months of recovering from a serious eye injury caused by a shooting.

In a video posted on his Kofi TV YouTube channel on May 22, 2025, Kofi thanked the many people and donors who supported him through this difficult time. He also praised businessman Ibrahim Mahama for his kindness and generosity, especially for offering to fly him on his private jet to get medical treatment abroad.

“Today is just to say thank you, but as I have said, I won’t leave any issue unanswered. Whatever needs to be done will be done because what I went through, at a point, I felt it was my end. I felt that it could have been my death because someone was shot in the leg at Teshie Nungua, and she died. Mine was in the face, and when you look at the scans that were conducted, as I speak now, there are still particles in there, which they say I have to live with for a period,” Kofi said.

He promised to clear up some controversies about the incident in future videos. Regarding his vision, Kofi explained that his eyesight is not the same as before, but he is improving after many surgeries and treatments.

“Now I can say that, while my eyes are not like they used to be, I can now see you if you are standing before me. I can read messages. When the text is small, I can take a screenshot and zoom in to read. So, I am able to help myself, and I am grateful for where the Lord has brought me. I am very grateful to Ghanaians,” he said.

Kofi was shot in the face on December 21, 2024, during the 25th-anniversary celebration of Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu Il at the Kwafie Festival in Dormaa Ahenkro, Bono Region. The injury happened while he was covering the event, after a musket was fired close to him by a chief’s bodyguard during a traditional musket display.

He first received treatment at Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital and Berekum Holy Family Hospital before businessman Ibrahim Mahama sponsored his travel to Dubai for advanced medical care.
