Kennedy Agyapong rallies supporters to back Bawumia for victory
Kennedy Agyapong, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, has urged his followers to put the primaries behind them and support Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for victory in the December 7 elections.

“Once I’m a party member, no matter what happened during the primaries, I think we are all one people and it will be best for all of us to come together,” Kennedy Agyapong stated.
“So, I’m pleading with my supporters, let’s use my birthday to reconcile. I’m also appealing to the Vice President’s supporters, I know they are intimidating my supporters. If they want us to come together and unite for a united front, then they should also reciprocate the same favours I am rendering on behalf of my supporters.”
The firebrand NPP politician made the overtures during his 64th birthday speech on Sunday, June 16.
Kennedy Agyapong is well known for threatening a “showdown” with the Vice President and, by implication, the President following the NPP presidential primaries, in which he finished second to Dr Bawumia.
Earlier reports said that Kennedy Agyapong was going independent after complaining about several internal party practices.
However, the business mogul refuted this.
“If you know me very well, I am not selfish and people have come to me several times that ‘Go independent, Go independent’.
“I think that is not a wise thing to do. Therefore, I have refused to do that.
“So, I’m pleading with the supporters and NPP party supporters [and] NPP people at large, everywhere, that with united front we can win the election in 2024.”
Mr Kennedy Agyapong, who is also the Board Chairman of Ghana National Gas Company, apologised for his recent ranting in the Ashanti Region and claimed to have resigned from the ruling party.
He maintains he would remain with the NPP and has not resigned.
