Hon. Ablakwa boosts ICT Education with 60 Laptops worth GHC100,000
ICT education has become very important in the education and training of humans resources in recent times. This has attracted Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa leading to his donation of some 60 laptop computers to Sixty (60) teachers of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The recipients of the donation are from some selected basic schools in the North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region.

The Member of Parliament of the constituency’s donation is valued at GHS100,000.00. The all-important donation was made by the MP to ICT teachers on Thursday, September 26, 2019.
However, at the donation ceremony, facilitators who benefited from the gesture beamed with smiles as they recieved their donated laptops. They promised to put them to good use to imprrove the teaching and learning of ICT in public schools.

Fifty-five out of the 60 teachers who benefited from the gesture were facilitators in public basic schools whiles the remaining were tutors in second cycle institutions in the constituency.
More gestures such as this will go a long way to help resource ICT teachers and schools so that, we can as a nation move from the theoretical ICT education to a practice-based approach.

There are many schools in Ghana that do not have the essential ICT tools for effective teaching and learning yet, their students are made to sit for the ICT exams at the BECE.
Delivering a speech at the short ceremony, he said: “We can boldly say that for this academic year there will be no ICT teacher or Computing Facilitator as they are now called in any of our 55 public JHS and 5 SHS without laptops.”
As a former Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Information, he continues to play his role and contribute his quota to the developmental needs of his constituency and believes these laptops will help teachers/facilitators deliver on the job and engage in the necessary research works to improve on the information they deliver in the class to enhance performance of their students.
