Ghana’s music industry needs urgent investment and support-Flow Delly
Ghana’s music industry needs urgent investment and support to save it from its current downward trend, according to Flow Delly.
The seasoned music manager behind the acclaimed rapper Medikal, Flow Delly, has issued a passionate plea for greater investment and a structured support to propel Ghana’s music industry forward. In a discussion about Ghana’s music industry challenges, Flow Delly highlighted the critical need for financial support, a system of improved royalty and the enhancement of global recognition for the artists in our country, Ghana.
Flow Delly stated that “We all know there are so many talented artists out there who need help. It is very sad to see an artist with great talent struggle”. He also made mention of the lack of investors as one of the most essential hurdles holding the industry back. “Our music industry needs investors who will put in money and resources so that the industry can grow,” he emphasised.
Upon his firsthand experience in managing Medikal, Flow Delly revealed the level of menace artists face. “Working with Medikal gave me a direct exposure to some of the industry’s major challenges,” he said. Flow Delly emphasised that lack of financial support is one part of the challenge. We have to invest our royalties and finances in the music industry so that the artists will be fairly compensated for their work that will result in artistic growth.
Flow Delly also called on both the government and private institutions to identify Ghana’s music industry potential as a driver of tourism and economic growth. He again said, “Entertainment promotes tourism, and the government, as well as the private organisations, should pay attention to our industry”.
Moving on, he expressed some concern over the lack of support for Ghanaian artists internationally. “Our artists do not get the support they deserve, not even a quarter of it,” as he revealed. Even with these setbacks, Flow Delly remains very hopeful about the future of the industry. “When these issues are properly addressed, the music industry will flourish for the benefit of all stakeholders,” as he said.
His words serve as a rallying cry for industry players, investors and policymakers to unite in addressing the challenges we are facing in Ghana’s music industry. Flow Delly saw to it that, when the artists get the needed support, they will be able to unlock full potential in the Ghana music industry. Flow Delly’s call to action highlights the need for a collaborative effort to curb the menace of the music industry.
