Galatasaray signs Victor Osimhen from Napoli after weeks of negotiation. Agreement has been reached between the two clubs for the transfer of the Nigerian striker.
Galatasaray has officially completed the permanent signing of Nigerian international Victor Osimhen from Napoli, following a spectacular loan campaign that saw the striker emerge as one of Europe’s most talked-about forwards in the 2024-25 season.
The agreement brings an end to long-running negotiations between the two clubs and secures one of Galatasaray’s top targets.
Osimhen spent last season on loan in Istanbul, where he quickly established himself as a key player, not just in terms of goals, but also as a symbol of the club’s attacking identity.
Osimhen, 26, scored 37 goals and assisted eight times in 41 appearances across all competitions, including the Turkish Süper Lig, Turkish Cup, and UEFA tournaments.
His clinical finishing, physical presence, and unwavering work ethic earned him praise from fans and pundits alike, with calls growing louder throughout the season for Galatasaray to sign him permanently.
Negotiations began immediately following the season’s conclusion, as Galatasaray moved to activate the 75 million euro ($87.3 million) release clause included in Osimhen’s Napoli contract.
The clause was only valid until the first half of July 2025, forcing Galatasaray to work against the clock. While both parties agreed on the transfer’s overall value, discussions became bogged down by the payment structure.
Before finalizing the transaction, Napoli demanded strong financial guarantees and a firm installment plan. After several weeks of intense negotiations and logistical manoeuvring, the deal was finalized on Monday, with all terms agreed.
According to club sources, Galatasaray will pay Napoli 75 million euros for the forward, divided into 40 million euros up front and 35 million euros in two installments due by the end of 2026.
Napoli also received up to 5 million euros in performance-related bonuses, which were linked to Osimhen’s individual accomplishments and Galatasaray’s success in domestic and international competitions.
Crucially, the Italian club has included a 10% sell-on clause, which means they will receive a portion of any future transfer fees if Galatasaray decides to sell Osimhen later in his career.
