Forgive us of our mistakes, we’ll do better next time – Bawumia begs Ghanaians

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has asked Ghanaians to forgive the party for its mistakes while in government. He promised that if given another chance, the NPP would perform better.
In his speech at Goaso during the party’s “Thank You Tour” on April 28, 2025, Dr. Bawumia said the NPP had gained valuable insights from its period of governance. He confidently told supporters that the party was dedicated to doing things changing course for the better.
He declared to the crowd that “We recognise that we have made mistakes along the way, and we sincerely ask for your forgiveness.”
Dr. Bawumia emphasized The value of transparency and said the tour wasn’t just about commemorating but also to reflect. He showed appreciation to Ghanaians for their support over the years and pledged to rebuild trust.
He added that “We have listened to your concerns, and we are determined to chart a new path forward together.”
Pointing out the NPP’s achievements in digitalisation, infrastructure, and boosting economic growth, Dr. Bawumia said the party had made progress regardless challenges. He openly stated that there were failures but maintained that the party would not make excuses.
He stated that “We pledge to correct our lapses and to deliver even better governance in the future.”
He appealed for togetherness among NPP members and asked Ghanaians to trust in the party’s mission for the country. Dr. Bawumia said the 2024 election would be a significant period for democracy in our country Ghana and encourage the public to unite for common purpose with a new sense of purpose.
He concluded that “We owe it to every Ghanaian to serve with humility, dedication, and an unrelenting commitment to progress.”
