Eastern Region Deserves A Lockdown After 25 Cases
Eastern Region deserves a Lockdown as its COVID-19 cases continue to soar. The Ashanti region (Greater Kumasi) was handed a lockdown verdict with 10 COVID-19 cases. Eastern region has 25 now and many on social media believe Eastern Region’s lockdown is overdue.
However, there is the need to look at how a more effective lockdown strategy with plans already in place to help the vulnerable and the poor in place.
According to the latest Disease Surveillance Dept. of the Ghana Health Service, 24 out of the 25 cases from Eastern Region are from 1 camp of 245 industrial workers in Lower Manya Krobo District.

All the other contact workers were tested and 23 more were detected as confirmed COVID-19 cases. The other 1 case is from Fanteakwa District.
Of the 408 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ghana, 205 were reported from the routine surveillance, 88 from enhanced surveillance activities and 115 from travellers under mandatory quarantine in both Accra and Tamale.
Regions that have reported cases are Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, Eastern, Northern, North East, Upper East and Upper West regions.
