DVLA Replaces PVC Driver’s Licenses with Smart Cards
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced in September 6, 2023 the initiation of a process to eliminate all outdated driver’s license cards that were issued prior to September 2017 from the system.
According to the DVLA, these outdated cards will be substituted with advanced smart driver’s license cards. This information was conveyed through an official statement released by the DVLA on September 6, 2023.
The DVLA has specified that this process will be in effect from then until March 31, 2024. After this date, all old card driver’s licenses will no longer be considered valid by the Authority.
Consequently, the Authority has extended an invitation to all individuals who possess the outdated card driver’s licenses to submit them to the nearest DVLA office for verification and replacement.
“The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) would like to inform the general public that it has initiated a process to phase out all Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) card driver’s licenses (the outdated PVC card driver’s licenses issued prior to September 2017) and replace them with the smart card driver’s license.”
